MT Microneedling

What is Microneedling

The process facilitates and stimulates the skins natural healing process without causing permanent epidermal damage and has been shown to stimulate collagen naturally and aid in the infusion and penetration of products and serums. Fine MT Microneedles penetrate the skin where the fibroblasts are situated and collagen remodelling occurs. During the healing process, growth factors are released and Collagen synthesis stimulated by stem cells may well be activated in this process. Keratinocytes, through growth factor stimulation may well produce improved Skin Tone and texture of the Skin. An obvious advantage with this procedure is the fact that the epidermis - the protective layer of the skin - is preserved. While it takes 4-6 weeks for new collagen synthesis and about 4-6 months for the full effect of the treatments to be obtained. The common response by clients after the initial treatment is that their skin has a glow and dehydration lines disappear. The skin appears plumper and women often wear less make-up as texture and colouring improves dramatically. Monthly treatments are recommended as the skin has a memory and will seek to return to its previous state. Continued home needing will ensure the longevity of scar improvement.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I consider Microneedling roller as an in-clinic treatment option?

Microneedling offers you a safe and cost effective alternative treatment for the induction of natural collagen production within the skin. Microneedling can also be used as a trans-dermal delivery system to enhance product absorption into deeper layers of the skin, allowing better results from your treatment products. Done in-clinic allows for safety and hygiene protocols to be followed, which reduced the chance of infection, or over-doing it. Remember more is not always better!

How many treatments will I need?

As the primary objective of Microneedling is to stimulate the production of new collagen, optimal results are not achieved after just one session. A course of at least 6 treatments spaced 1 month apart is recommended. Results should be noticed within 12 weeks of starting your Microneedling treatments, while optimal results will be noticed 6 - 12 months after starting treatments. Skin improvement/regeneration is noticed for up to 2 years.

Is Microneedling painful?

The Microneedling treatment ranges from slightly uncomfortable to a tad more sensitive for those with a lower pain threshold. While not absolutely necessary, a topical anaesthetic can be applied in order to ease wny discomfort.

Is there any "downtime" involved?

There is very little to no downtime involved with the Microneedling treatments. Immediately after your treatment, your skin may feel warm and slightly sensitive quite similar to that of sunburnt skin. The redness will dissipate within the first 24 - 48 hours and make-up can safely be applied the following day after treatment.

Can I combine Microneedling with other cosmetic procedures?

Microneedling can safely be incorporated with chemical peels and other facial treatments. When I say incorporated, that means you can do a course of microneedling at the same time you do a course of chemical peels - it doesn't mean you can do them at the same time, in the same treatment - that would just be too much stress for the skin . . . . and yourself! Avoid Microneedling for at least 6 - 8 weeks post Botox® or filler treatments.
