Hi everybody, I’m your friendly therapist that cares so much
about you and my name is Micki.
I studied at the Stellenbosch Academy of Health & Skin Care Therapy (Isa
Carstens) which has a reputation for being one of the best beauty institutes
in the world. I received my C.I.D.E.S.C.O; British Confederation; Advanced Aesthetics Diploma
(AAD) and Stellenbosch Masters diplomas amongst others.
I also received diplomas in numerous cosmetics houses such as Clarins, René Guinot,
Jeanne Gatinau, R.V.B and Sans Soucis to mention a few.
My experience comes from working at the Stellenbosch Hydro, managing the Isa
Carstens Salon in Strand, working in Cape Town and finally opening Caress Health
Studio.
Caress Health Studio was opened in 1993. The name was coined by my mother and represents the female of
CARE (as in prince & princess). So that means I’m your Caress, with
the emphasis on the word care! And it definitely has nothing to do with caressing
a dodgy man's private body parts . . Just to clear that up!!!
At Caress, I try my best to make your treatment as de-stressing and relaxing
as possible. Caress is so much more than a beauty salon - it is the next best thing to taking
a holiday. Whether you need a place to de-stress, download or simply relax
and snooze, Caress Health Studio is the place to be.
Positive energy, empowering information, superior skincare, good laughs and
peace & tranquility. It's called simple abundance, my simple abundance.
My newest mantra in life is "I'm
too blessed to be stressed". With the insane pace of life, I do
find myself repeating that mantra almost every 5 minutes, but it helps.
It helps remind me that I'm blessed, it helps remind me to slow down
but most of all it stops the stress in it's track (well most of the time
anyway). If I'm saying it in the middle of a treatment, I know I'm starting
to stress about something. And stress leads to adrenaline and adrenaline
leads to inflammation and inflammation leads to ageing .......... ok
I'll stop there because I'm getting my knickers in a twist. "I'm too
blessed to be stressed"
Did I mention my passion in the salon
is anti-ageing? That's why the inflammation story freaks me out . . .
inflammation = ageing!!!
With the need to be young or should I say the need to look younger,
woman are eager to try just about anything to get that young, rejuvenated,
'been on holiday my whole life' look.
Some of the things people try really scares me and some of the things the medical
profession are up to scare me even more.
Because I deal with damaged or stressed skin every day of my life, it's been
a priority to me to gain knowledge, not only about the skin but about anything
to do with anti-ageing, and more importantly to find more information on anti-ageing
without turning to drastic measures like injecting ourselves with poisons,
microwaving the skin or overdosing it with Vitamin A.
So, that's the background now go browse and enjoy!!!
